Theme Application / Installation
Basic Theme Application
To start using the OfficeDocsPro themes, extract the contents of the Zip file you downloaded to a memorable location. You can apply the theme to a new presentation or an existing presentation by browsing for the extracted theme files from within PowerPoint:
Mac:
Click on “Slide Themes” to expand the Gallery, then click Browse: navigate to the extracted folder in the Finder dialogue, select your theme and click Apply.
Windows:
Click on the Design tab in the Ribbon, then on the More icon to expand the Theme Gallery: click on “Browse for Themes” at the bottom of the Gallery Window and navigate to the folder you extracted, select your theme and click Apply.
Theme Gallery Integration
If you’d like the theme to appear in the Theme Gallery for easier ongoing selection, you’ll need to move the extracted theme files into the core Themes directory:
Mac:
Open the extracted folder, and navigate into the Theme folder - copy the enclosed theme files (.THMX) to:
Applications / Microsoft Office 2008 / Office / Media / Templates / Office Themes.
Windows:
Open the extracted folder, and navigate into the Theme folder - copy the enclosed theme files (.THMX) to:
Program Files \ Microsoft Office \ Document Themes 12 (or Document Themes 14 if you’re using the Office 2010 Beta).
Color Palette Integration
Theme Color XML file(s) will need to be copied to the correct directory before they can be applied to a presentation:
Mac:
Open the extracted folder, and navigate into the Theme Colors folder - copy the enclosed color definition file(s) (.XML) to:
Applications / Microsoft Office 2008 / Office / Media / Templates / Office Themes / Theme Colors
Windows:
Open the extracted folder, and navigate into the Theme Colors folder - copy the enclosed color definition file(s) (.XML) to:
Program Files \ Microsoft Office \ Document Themes 12 (or Document Themes 14 if you’re using the Office 2010 Beta) \ Theme Colors
This will integrate the color palette(s) into the theme Color selector: apply the color definitions to your presentation by clicking on the Colors selector in the Document Theme inspector (Mac) or by clicking on Design in the Ribbon and clicking the Colors button (Windows) - the new palettes will appear in alphabetical order, though you may need to restart PowerPoint before the new palettes appear in the selector.
